Bikelog–Week 26, technically

You have probably guessed that I am not pedaling away 6 days a week anymore. As a matter of fact, it’s been tough to get in 2 or 3 sessions since Week 24. One thing and then another, you know.

But it’s the only thing that keeps my knees free of pain and swelling (besides the one capsule of glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM that I take each night) and it costs nothing but 30 minutes of my *valuable* time. So I believe that 3 times a week on the exercise bike is worth making the effort, and certainly better than anything else I could do at home.

I’m not walking. I know, I know, I promised that I would get back with it once these hurricanes were over with. The weather is improving, so I really have no excuse. Life gets busier at this time of the year, and more stressful, so making time to walk and/or pedal is essential to keep me healthy and relaxed. I’m certainly not relaxed lately…

I’m no longer stuck at 220 lbs. Now it’s 218 and won’t budge! This week I’m drinking soy “milk”, and I notice that my stomach does not have that slightly upset feeling, and I don’t feel like I need to take a nap after breakfast. Although I have never had lactose intolerance, I guess it’s possible to lose some ability to digest it as I age. As for wanting to nap, maybe it is the tryptophan in the bovine product. I don’t think this is going to make me start eating Rice Dream(R), though……More later.

  1. Hi Kaye, Perhaps you ought to get some ‘tummy’ tablets ? You can buy anti acid tabs. over the counter here; Ranadene, something like that—-or see the doc, perhaps you are getting an ulcer-don’t laugh ,it has happened to me,I also have the beginnings of a stomach hernia !!
Heaven knows what the gastro specialist will tell me on friday !

I’m glad that you are doing Some exercise, that should help–but don’t forget the age factor !

On the other hand did you see the debate between the 2 opposing men last night-I saw only the bits on TV.Then today with the reporter Kathy Couran, they were asked who were the 3 people who they would ask to dinner:Obama went for Mandela, and the last was his g/mother who rings him but can’t ravel cos of a health problem-can’t remember the 3rd;McCain on the other hand, went for a couple of olympic stars and another sportsman-Duh ???

    Maggy

  2. No, I don’t think I really need an antacid or one of the H-1 inhibitors that are so popular now. I can drink coffee on an empty stomach without a problem. I would rather drink soy milk. I can probably continue to eat yogurt and cheese.
I saw the debate–was not impressed by either, but I didn’t see the Katy Couric interview. That’s an old question, about whom one would invite to dinner, living or dead. I haven’t given it much thought, and don’t know whom I would invite to dinner. It is meant to show the type of people you admire. If you know this, it is easy to pick 3 people who will make you look good for thinking of them. Maybe McCain wasn’t trying to do that.
